Overview

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking two Summer Student Workers to join their team. The Youth Program Summer Students will work under the direction of the Youth Workers. The Summer Student’s main responsibility will be to support the Youth Program staff and learn the basic daily duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band laws, policies and procedures

• Develops a rapport and relationship with all youth for IR#6 and IR#4, and the staff

• Assists with supervising children and youth during various activities

• Assists with planning and delivering recreational athletic fitness and sporting activities.

• Assists with developing new initiatives, activities and events.

• Collaborates with Cultural Worker, Elders Coordinator, and community to increase the participation of youth in traditional Secwepemc activities.

• Maintains work and activities area in clean and professional manner.

• Other duties as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physically fit and with high energy for youth activities; some lifting to set up and take down of community events. Those normally associated with a typical office environment. Some visual concentration on computer/laptop.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Main work site situated at both Switsmalph # 4 and Switsmalph IR#6 Youth Centre, Work is performed in a typical office/or outside environment, with some travel required. May work alone in projects from time to time.

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE

Equipment: Desk top computer, Laptop, Photo copier, Printer, computer games

Software: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Eligible participants must be of Indigenous ancestry

• Must have a Social Insurance Number and be at least 15 years of age

• Must meet ASETS criteria for referral (Referral required before interview)

• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB, may be required (provided at no cost to the individual)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed term position 8 weeks: July 7, 2025 to August 29, 2025

Wage offered will be: $19.14 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5, with some flexibility in hours/days of work

Competition closes June 9th, 2025 at midnight, Pacific Time.
