Overview

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking one Summer Student to work under the direction of the Director of Social Development. The Summer Students main responsibilities will be to support Social Development staff in the basic daily duties and learn the processes and procedures in the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band laws, policies and procedures

• Participate in promotional events related to the Social Development team’s initiatives

• Assist with the Food Security program activities

• Support inventory management, including food ordering, pick-up, and stocking

• Assist with organizing and distributing food hampers as needed

• Scanning, filing and retrieving documents within our central e-filing system

• Assist with any additional tasks as required to support the Social Development team and food security programs

• Basic computer skills & organizational skills

• Confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people

• Punctuality and reliability are mandatory

• Ability to adapt to changing demands & priorities

• Demonstrated ability to speak & write clearly

• Works cooperatively with others, inside & outside organization

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Those normally associated with a typical office environment. Continuous visual concentration on computer/laptop.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most of the work duties will be performed in a typical office environment.

Work location: 6424 Village Rd, Chase BC

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE

Equipment: Desk top computer, Laptop, Photo copier, Printer

Software: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Eligible participants must be of Indigenous ancestry

• Must have a Social Insurance Number and be at least 15 years of age

• Must meet ASETS criteria for referral (Referral required before interview)

• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB, may be required (provided at no cost to the individual)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed term position 8 weeks: July 7, 2025 to August 29, 2025

Wage offered will be: $19.14 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5, with some flexibility in hours/days of work
