Overview

Sandy Point Campground and Pierre’s Point Campground are seeking one Summer Student Worker to join their team. The Housekeeper would assist with general cleaning for both campsites (Sandy Point and Pierres Point). The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, an outgoing personality, the ability to problem-solve and work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidates should be able to work well with others and be proactive with their work responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures

• Thorough cleaning of mirrors, sinks, toilets, showers, shelves and sanitizing surfaces

• Sweeping and mopping of showers and floors, posting safety signs for wet floors

• Checking and ensuring toilet paper, towels, soaps, and sanitizers are always full

• Cleaning of dish wash areas thoroughly and checking towels and soap dispensers

• Spraying sterilizer in the washrooms

• Ability to work efficiently in adverse weather conditions

• Emptying garbage and recycling, as well as sorting recycling

• Be aware and visually check areas and notify supervisor/management of any issues

• Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment – including compliance with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• WHMIS Training Certificate (an asset)

• Certificate in First Aid (an asset)

• Reliable and able to keep work commitments

• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions

• Ability to work in a physically demanding position

• Exercise courtesy and tact in dealing with other employees and the public

• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance

• Prioritization and time management skills and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal

• Ability to work all shifts, including weekend, evenings and holidays, if required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires a significant amount of physical labor, including lifting up to 20 lbs, bending, and kneeling.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will be performed in a variety of settings, indoors and outdoors. Various shift patterns may be required (nightshift, weekdays and weekends).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Eligible participants must be of Indigenous ancestry

• Must have a Social Insurance Number and be at least 15 years of age

• Must meet ASETS criteria for referral (Referral required before interview)

• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB, may be required (provided at no cost to the individual)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed term position 8 weeks: July 7, 2025 to August 29, 2025

Wage offered will be: $19.14 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5 – 40, with some flexibility in hours/days of work

Competition closes June 9th, 2025 at midnight, Pacific Time.
