The First Nations Technology Council wants to better understand the challenges and opportunities to adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) in First Nations communities across British Columbia. Help inform the development of Indigenous-designed custom AI resources to support Nation-building in your community. We want to hear from First Nations communities in BC: elected leaders, executive directors, band managers, programs and services departments, policy and planning professionals, economic development and business services, information technology and digital divisions, communications and engagement professionals, and other individuals working for First Nations. There is no experience or knowledge of AI required to participate in this engagement process.

- Cellular, high-speed internet available in Fort Babine. March 20, 2025. With the installation of new cellular infrastructure, 47 households in Fort Babine (Babine 6) now have wireless access to high-speed internet services. Built and operated by service provider Telus, the project also expands cellular services for nearly six kilometres on Fort Babine Road along Lake Babine, providing crucial access to emergency services.

The Conference Board of Canada’s report on the economic impact of the First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) finds that the $48.6 million in grants delivered by FPCC to First Nations organizations and individuals in B.C. in 2023-24 generated an estimated $91.2 million in gross domestic product (GDP) in Canada and created over 1,800 jobs.
