About this Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Archaeology, the Archaeology Summer Student must have knowledge of basic archaeology and an interest in learning archaeology. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the continued improvement of the Archaeology Office, WFN’s Occupational Health and Safety program, Intergovernmental Affairs Office. This position fosters a positive learning experience in safety reporting, database duties, safety of archaeology staff, work with Archaeology office staff with inventory office equipment, scanning documents and attend Government to Government meetings.

  • Carry out work plans as provided by the supervisor and updates work plans as needed.
  • Provide daily reports to supervisor using email and other digital methods as required.
  • Assist with compliance of all safe operating procedures and ensures they are all updated.
  • Be willing to learn accident/incident investigations
  • Attend Government to Government meetings with Intergovernmental Affairs
  • Help to maintains data tracking records
  • Help to carry out administrative duties associated within the Archaeology Office.
  • Be willing to learn Project Coordination on WFN Lands.
  • Be willing to learn and perform archaeology field work.

Must Haves:

  • Must be a registered student, returning to studies in fall 2024, grade 10-12 or post-secondary
  • Related courses, experience and training in computer skills, MS Office, Outlook & Excel programs.
  • Experience with databases & reporting
  • Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
  • Valid BC class seven (7) or five (5) driver’s license preferred and Acceptable Driver’s Abstract

The hourly range for this position is $16.75 – $23.00
