THE OPPORTUNITY:

Splatsin is seeking a Home Support Worker, where you will work as a part of a dynamic team alongside the Home Care Nurse and Care Aid who support community clients independence and ability to stay at home. The Home Support Worker will provide consistent home support services, companionship, and non-medical support to vulnerable elderly clients within the Home Care Program at Splatsin Health. In this role, you will help clients stay in their community with family and friends by assisting with daily living activities and household tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing and/or assist clients with households tasks including but not limited to, cleaning, washing dishes, washing floors, doing laundry, changing bed linens, preparing simple meals.
  • Maintain a strict focus on a clean and tidy home setting for community members. C
  • Checking each visit for minor repair needs, bringing these items for discussion with the Home Care Team.
  • Occasional transportation to and from appointments.
  • Maintain community member confidentiality, privacy and security of the client’s health information and health status in accordance with Splatsin Confidentiality Oath and the Provincial and Federal Practice Standards.
  • Document information and prepare reports as the role requires.
  • Identify and report client concerns and maintain ongoing support to clients and family members
  • Work efficiently with each client and adapt to different circumstances using tact and diplomacy.
  • Commitment to building and maintaining trust in the client-caregiver relationship.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5).
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • WHMIS and Food Safe Certificate are considered an asset.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIRMENTS:

  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check that includes the vulnerable sector
