Overview

Job Summary 

This position reports to the Integrated Support Team Leader. The Culture and Community Inclusion Worker will assist Indigenous young adults with diverse abilities develop support plans that facilitate personal well being within their own home and in community. The services are determined by the individual and based in their specific goals and support needs. This position will encourage and empower the person to be independent and self-determined and to live the life they envision while maintaining excellent standards of care, health, and safety. This position’s natural ability to care for others and work collaboratively towards a goal of cultural, and community inclusion will allow them to influence the person’s success.

Qualifications 

Education and Experience: 

• Human Service Worker degree, or community support worker diploma or equivalent;

• Minimum 2 years of experience in community social service/healthcare;

• Current Emergency First Aid/CPR;

• Class 5 Driver’s License

• Behavioral management training (preferred), or experience working with diverse-abilities;

•  Experience and knowledge of local First Nations communities and their needs is an asset

• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, caregivers and community

professionals

• Good oral and written, interpersonal and communication skills

• Culturally competent in the knowledge of Secwepemc territory, people, and their cultural traditions while

respecting all cultural diversity

• Ability to facilitate, develop, and deliver workshops to address skills needs identified by the Individuals

• Ability to deal with interpersonal conflict.

Working Conditions: 

• Travel in this position is required (to: clients’ residences, court, communities, caregiver homes and other

locations as necessary)

• Non-standard hours of work, adjusted schedule

• Receives regular supervision & consultation as needed

Conditions of Employment: 

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License, class 5 with no restrictions.
