Overview

Adams Lake Indian Band Public Works Department is seeking two Summer Student Workers to join their team. The Public Works Summer Students will work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band Public Works Manager or designate and mentor under various areas. The Public Works Summer Students will assist with grounds maintenance, recreation sites, community buildings, and other areas to ensure they are properly maintained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures

• Assist with ground maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, general landscaping

• Assist with general maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing systems, electrical fixtures, HVAC systems and water systems

• Assist with road work projects, including patching, paving and signage installation

• Participate in various public works projects as required

• General office duties if requested

• Provide general janitorial duties as required

• Organize inventories of materials and supplies

• Assist with maintaining records related to inventory, maintenance and equipment use

• Performs other duties as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Maintain a level of physical fitness to continuously perform all duties required in this position including but not limited to excellent cardiovascular fitness, bending, lifting & carrying

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Location: Chase, IR #4. Some travel to different work sites is required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors, but some work will be performed indoors as well.

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel & Outlook, Operational databases

***Equipment Provided: Steel Toe Boots, High Vis Shirt, Hard Hat

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Be able to work in differing weather conditions

• Be able to safely work around and with heavy machinery

• Eligible participants must be of Indigenous ancestry

• Must have a Social Insurance Number and be at least 15 years of age

• Must meet ASETS criteria for referral (Referral required before interview)

• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB (provided at no cost to the individual)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed term position 8 weeks: July 7, 2025 to August 29, 2025

Wage offered will be: $19.14 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5 – 40, with some flexibility in hours/days of work

Competition closes June 9th, 2025 at midnight, Pacific Time.
