About this Opportunity

Westbank First Nation is looking to hire 2 Public Works Labourer II, who will be responsible for performing the daily tasks required to complete all aspects of outside construction and maintenance operations, which includes: roads, drainage, landscape, cemetery maintenance & projects, snow removal, fleet and grounds maintenance, carpentry. Maybe required to supervise and/or train individuals from time to time on specific projects.

Want to know more? You will…

·      Perform a variety of new construction and maintenance tasks related to roads, bus stops, drainage systems, landscape projects, grounds maintenance and carpentry including but not limited to irrigation install & repair, concrete work, asphalt patching.

·      Operate and maintain equipment and power tools such as tamper, power rake, aerator, top dresser, lawn mower, weed-eater, cement mixer, pressure washer, saws, drills, miscellaneous hand tools, ATV, snow removal equipment, etc.

·      Perform minor repairs and assists with assembly, removal and adjustments of attachments to various pieces of equipment and fixtures.

·      Assist with traffic control, the placement of barricades and warning lights around work projects in high and low traffic situations and adverse weather conditions.

·      Understand the importance of hazard identification, assessment and control.

·      Actively points out safety issues to others (e.g., coworkers, contractors and management.)

Must Haves:

·      Must be mechanically inclined

·      Occupational First Aid Level I

·      WHMIS Certificate

·      Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate

·      Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and an annual driver’s abstract in excellent standing which is to be submitted annually

The minimum starting salary for this position is $44,528
