Youth Wellness Worker (Term) – Full Time

About this Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Wellness Manager, the Youth Wellness worker will participate in a collaborative therapeutic model to support youth in establishing and maintaining healthy lifestyles. The Youth Wellness Worker will build a strong therapeutic rapport, through modeling and engaging in positive activities that promote increased self-awareness, healthy coping strategies, effective communication, life skills, appropriate boundary setting, responsibility and accountability, in culturally relevant ways. The Youth Wellness Worker will consult, advocate and collaborate with community partners, schools and families, as well as various WFN programs and services, as applicable. This position requires advocacy, connection to resources, knowledge and support through intergenerational trauma, abuse, and substance misuse. This job will require some evenings and weekends for crisis, outreach, events, and programming.

- Establish and maintain safe and trusting therapeutic relationships with youth and their families.
- Develop, implement and track progress of individual treatment plans and family goal
- Provide one on one therapeutic care for youth and provide referrals for
- Plan, prepare, and conduct group, family and/or individual counselling sessions
- Support the development of trauma-informed, culturally appropriate and evidence-based prevention, referral for diagnosis, and early intervention programs related to FASD, ASD, Learning challenges etc.
- Work collaboratively across WFN departments to provide and participate in recreational activities designed to meet the needs, capabilities, and interests of youth
Must Haves:
- Must have successfully completed a Degree in Social work, addictions, psychology or related field. An accumulation of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of two years of experience in outreach / counselling
- First Aid Certification is considered an asset
- Food Safe Certification is considered an asset
- Trauma Informed Care is considered an asset

The median salary for this position is: $71,405
